Project Column Controls - 1/29/11
This is the steering column control cluster. Turn signals, wipers, horn. Not too bad, just filthy.
The ends of the stalks were pretty filthy with collection of finger oil and dirt from over the years.
Good hot bucket of water with some Marine Clean.
Scrub it all down with a toothbrush, relubricate all the moving parts. Cleaned up pretty nicely.
Project Steering Column - 1/28/11
Steering column had usual layer of dust and dirt, but another item on it had been gnawing at me for awhile.
When I first took it out of the car, I noticed little flakes of stuff falling out of the steering box end of it.
You can see a glimpse of shiny shaft in there. That’s where the chunks were falling out of. Some sort of gasket or cork material. Now with it up on the workbench,...
Project wiper arm assembly - 1/24/11
This has been taking place over a few weeks. Wiper arm assembly that drives the wipers.
As you can see in the photo, one of the rubber boots capping one of the swivel joints was ripped. No new ones, and of course could not just let that be. Also, the whole of most all the arms was all covered in layers of over spray from previous paint jobs. Dentist pick, solvent and scotch brite pads.

Project Still Busy - 1/24/11
Just to let you know, its all the small stuff here. Just plugging away on piles and piles of miscellaneous parts. Each meticulously cleaned up and restored. Clutch pedal, antenna, wipers, antenna cable, speedometer cable, hood rubber seal, accelerator linkage, emergency brake cable housing.
