Now that hurricane Irene is passed, and I survived that, back to work on the Celica. Got the side view mirrors installed…
At least the hurricane caused me to clean out the garage in order to get everything in, so much more room to work now.

Debated for awhile what to do with the mirror bases finish wise. The original finish was not in very bad shape. It was a olive sort of glossy metallic. Being nothing else of that color on the car, I finally caved, and decided on flat black.

Scuffed them both down and painted them. Let that dry for a day, then did assembly.

Mounting on the car was a bit of a trick. Holes were difficult to line up, put the screws in and not mess up the paint job.

Driver side also. Remote mirror mechanism does not work that well, but hey it’s 30 some years old.

Managed to get the driver side door weather strip on also. Funny, but the hardest part was cleaning the BRAND NEW gaskets of the coating left on at the factory. But sure glad to have new ones. Really good news is that it actually contacts when the door is closed!!
